Vice President, Worldwide Public Sector Education, Microsoft

Microsoft Corp. believes that every child has a right to an excellent education, and that a strong education system is a critical element in developing and sustaining social progress and economic growth. As vice president of Education for Microsoft’s Worldwide Public Sector organization, Anthony Salcito oversees the worldwide execution of Microsoft’s vision, enabling education institutions and partners globally to embrace technology to optimize learning environments and to bring education and opportunity to students and dreamers across the globe. Salcito also supervises Microsoft’s partnership and technology outreach efforts via the Partners in Learning, Partners for Technology Access and Public and Private Alliances programs.

Previously, Salcito lead Microsoft’s efforts to support and increase the role technology plays to enhance learning across America as the general manager of Education for the U.S. He developed education partnerships and innovative programs that continue to help bring people together to communicate and collaborate, thereby improving the entire education system and delivering services that provide anytime, anywhere learning opportunities for all.

Salcito helped launch the U.S. Partners in Learning program in 2003, which was recognized in 2009 with the Public-Private Partnership Award from the U.S. National Governors Association. He was the catalyst for Microsoft’s involvement in the creation of the School of the Future and the inspiration behind Microsoft’s worldwide Innovative Schools Program. He also created the Microsoft Technology Friends Network, which links IT professionals willing to donate technology expertise to schools in need.

Salcito joined Microsoft in 1992 and helped build Microsoft’s marketing outreach plan in the early 1990s. During his initial years with Microsoft, he had the opportunity to influence marketing and one-to-many programs, including the product launches for Windows NT and Windows 95.

Salcito is involved with a variety of outreach projects; he has served on the boards of directors for Stevens Institute of Technology WebCampus and Western Governors University, and he currently serves on the boards of the National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship and the National Community Education Association.
